Experian is one of the newer credit bureaus in India. Experian received its license to operate in India in August 2010. The company formed a joint venture with seven leading financial institutions in banking and non banking financial segments: Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, Indian Bank, Federal Bank, Sundaram Finance and Magma Fincorp. Thus, Experian Credit Information Company India Private Limited, the joint venture was formed. Through this joint venture, the company brings its global expertise and experience in India. It focuses on three pillars of its service- best people, expertise in data & analytics and state of the art technology.

Experian was the first bureau to be launched under the Credit Information Companies Regulation Act, 2005 India. It has emerged as the second bureau in India after six years of monopoly of CIBIL. In India, Experian currently has three segments of business, which are credit bureau, decision analytics and marketing services.

Decision analytics allow organizations to convert data into valuable business decisions. Analytics help businesses manage credit risk, prevent fraud, target marketing offers and automate decision making. Analytics also evaluate data by using analytical tools, scoring models and software applications. Experian marketing services is focused on helping marketers more effectively target and engage their customers through digital marketing.

Recently Experian launched its premier fraud prevention tool called Hunter - a tool that helps bank from application fraud. The fraud prevention tool has been widely received by various banks. Experian's Hunter service enables the early detection of potentially fraudulent applications and helps identify fraud rings.

Experian is listed on the London Stock Exchange and has revenues in excess of US$ 4 billion. It employs more than 15000 people in 41 countries and supports clients in more than 80 countries.
